"Shiroishi Caslte" stands on a hill which sits in the middle of the city.
For around 260 years, during Edo period, Date family's vassal Katakura family held this casltle. It is one of the popular tourist destinations in Shiroishi.
The castle tower that stands today is a wooden replica of the castle from Edo period.
The outside wall is coated with white lacquer, and the roof is colored in silverish black.
In Spring, the 230 Sakura trees at Masuoka Park in Shiroishi caslte will be in full bloom in April. Many photographers visit this place to get a beautiful picture of the sakura with the caslte.
In Autumn, "Shiroishi Chrysanthemum Event" is held, and more 300 of Chrysanthemum and maple trees are exhibited around the castle.
In October, "Oni Kojiro Festival" is held and a fighting of 120 armors is performed.
In Winter, you can see the castle with the snow.
Shiroishi caslte is opened to public and you can see inside. (Entrance fee 300 yen)
Feel free to ask their volunteer guide for detailed explanations. (Only in weekends and holidays during April to November)
At the castle, you can try on Japanese armors. A professional staff will help you put on.
This is popular among foreign tourist. Many people enjoy taking pictures wearing it.
