【 Kudokuzan-Toshinji Temple】 The Jodo (Pure Land) Buddhism

Seirinji Temple is a temple of Jodo Shinshu Honganji of Shin Buddhism (Head temple: Kyoto Honganji Temple). Amithaba is the principle of worship at Seirinji Temple. The founder of Seirinji Temple is Mitsui Bungo, the second son of Mitsui Hozen that served as vassal for Sanada Yukimura. It is said that he became the disciple of Priest Junnyo of Kyoto Honganji Temple. After he left home and became a monk, in 1634, he established a house and name it “Zenkyubo”. Later, in 1659, during the time of Priest Ryonyo of Honganji Temple, the temple was renamed to “Seirinji Temple” and the name remained till present time. The temple crest is the crest of Sanada Clan, the “Rokumonsen”. The gravesite of Mitsui family resides in the temple, quietly well comes visitors.
